Men's Book Study

Every Tuesday, 8am - 9am

Men's Book Study

Leader: Jim Fielder |

Meets Tuesdays from 8:00-9:00 AM in Room 122
Please purchase the book beforehand from your vendor of choice
Discussion facilitated by Jim Fielder,

Currently finishing Letter to the American Church by Eric Metaxas (choosing the next book September 10th)

Can it really be God’s will that His children be silent at a time like this? Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as godly meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle.

The author of a bestselling biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Metaxas reveals the haunting similarities between today’s American Church and the German Church of the 1930s. Echoing the German martyr’s prophetic call, he exhorts his fellow Christians to repent of their silence in the face of evil.

An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity. As Bonhoeffer and other heroes of the faith insisted, the Church has an irreplaceable role in the culture of a nation. It is our duty to fight the powers of darkness, especially on behalf of the weak and vulnerable.

Silence is not an option. God calls us to defend the unborn, to confront the lies of cultural Marxism, and to battle the globalist tyranny that crushes human freedom. Confident that this is His fight, the Church must overcome fear and enter the fray, armed with the spiritual weapons of prayer, self-sacrifice, and love.

1-Day Discover First

Leader: Jared Walley |

First Baptist Church: 733 Cross Street, New Braunfels, TX US 78130

REGISTER

Discover First will take a break from August 25 - September 29, with the exception of a One-Day Discover First September 15th, when all five topics will be covered in one extended session.

Our membership class, Discover First, is an informative five-week process that will help you settle into FBCNB as your church home and family as quickly and thoroughly as possible. It’s a wonderful way to meet people and start building relationships while discovering our essential church doctrines, core values, culture, terms, and rhythm.

Whether you’re a new guest or long-time member, whether you’re seeking membership or just curious, you can jump in any week, in any order, with no commitment to membership.  This is intended to be both a membership and a general introduction class.

Discover First meets every Sunday (except holidays) from 11:00 AM to Noon in Rushing Hall. The topics rotate each Sunday, but on September 15th, all topics will be covered in one extended session from 11:00-3:30:

Week 1 – Introduction
Week 2 – Biblical Fidelity
Week 3 – Purposeful Evangelism
Week 4 – Christlike Living
Week 5 – Genuine Fellowship

To complete the membership process, you’ll be asked to attend all five sessions, in any order, and meet with Pastor Brad. This is not an interview. It’s just a get-to-know-you meeting and a chance for you to ask any further questions you may have. Again, you can attend the sessions in any order. And if you miss a week, no problem! You can pick it up when that topic rotates back around in five weeks.

2024 Schedule

CHILDCARE:
Children are welcome to attend the sessions with you.
If you’d prefer childcare, please indicate that on the registration link below.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Part 1 - The Creation

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Do I believe this statement that God has revealed in His Book? What does this really mean, and how does it affect my daily life? When you immerse yourself in the Biblical account of Creation, you will be led to know your Creator in deeper ways, increasing your awe of Him. You will also gain insight into who you are in relationship to your Maker and will gain a more complete understanding of your own purpose and how to live.

Genesis, Part One: The Creation explores the Biblical account of Creation found in chapters one and two, how the world was created, and how man came into being.

What You Will Discover

  • Observation: In this first study in our series on Genesis, observe a careful analysis of the creation narratives, focusing on the themes of God's sovereignty, the goodness of creation, the intentionality of human beings' role and relationship with God, and the order and harmony of the created world.
  • Interpretation: Discover the meaning of Genesis 1-2 in the context of Scripture.
  • Application: Apply what you're learning to your life as you discover the truth for yourself.

Part 2 - The Fall, The Flood, and The Nations

Adam and Eve, the serpent and an apple? Noah’s Ark and a worldwide flood? The Tower of Babel? Are these real or imagined? Stories or fact? What difference does it make anyway?

Genesis holds the keys to understanding the origin of sin and evil, the justice of God’s judgment, and the mercy of God’s plan for the redemption of mankind and hope for a lost and dying world.

Genesis, Part Two: The Fall, the Flood and the Nations explores the truths found in chapters three through eleven of Genesis and lays a solid foundation for the rest of the story.

What You Will Discover

  • Observation: In the second part of our series on Genesis, observe an exploration of humanity's fall, the escalation of sin, and God's responses through judgment and grace, highlighting key events such as the fall of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, the Flood, and the Tower of Babel.
  • Interpretation: Discover the meaning of Genesis 3-11 in the context of Scripture.
  • Application: Apply what you're learning to your life as you discover the truth for yourself.

Precept Upon Precept is a Precept Inductive Bible Study which features the Precept Inductive Bible Study Method. Discover Truth for Yourself.

The book contains the daily study material as well as study suggestions and extra features like timelines, maps, word studies, and charts to help you dig deeper. Each week contains five days of study material, including daily study questions, a memory verse day, and a weekly reflection day to help dig deeper into Scripture.

Choir Rehearsal

Leader: James Passman |

The Sanctuary Choir rehearses every Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Choir Room and teams up with the praise band to lead worship on Sunday mornings. Rehearsal is more than notes and rhythms. It's an opportunity to worship and draw near to God together! Under the direction of Worship Pastor, James Passman, the choir prepares a wide variety of music to include hymn arrangements, choral classics, and adaptations of modern worship choruses. The Sanctuary Choir is a non-auditioned group open to all who want to come and sing.

A love for the Lord and a love for music are the only two requirements.

Discover First

Every Sunday, 11am - Noon

Discover First

Leader: Jared Walley |

First Baptist Church: 733 Cross Street, New Braunfels, TX US 78130

Discover First will take a break from August 25 - September 29, with the exception of a One-Day Discover First September 15th, when all five topics will be covered in one extended session. Details coming soon.

The topic will rotate each Sunday:

The topic will rotate each Sunday:

The topic will rotate each Sunday:

Discover First will take a break from August 25 - September 29, with the exception of a One-Day Discover First September 15th, when all five topics will be covered in one extended session. Details coming soon.

The topic will rotate each Sunday:

Men's Book Study

Men's Book Study

Leader: Jim Fielder |

Our membership class, Discover First, is an informative five-week process that will help you settle into FBCNB as your church home and family as quickly and thoroughly as possible. Whether you’re a new guest or long-time member, whether you’re seeking membership or just curious, you can jump in any week, in any order, with no commitment to membership.  This is intended to be both a membership and a general introduction class.

Men's Book Study

Leader: Jim Fielder |

The topic will rotate each Sunday:

Men's Book Study

Leader: Jim Fielder |

Meets Tuesdays from 8:00-9:00 AM in Room 122

Choir Rehearsal

Every Wednesday, 7pm - 8:30pm
