The International Mission Board (IMB) helps Southern Baptists be an ever growing part of fulfilling the vision expressed in Revelation 7:9, of “a multitude from every language, tribe, and nation.” As a part of the Southern Baptist Convention, IMB joins together with more than 45,000 cooperating churches in the common purpose of making disciples and multiplying churches through a limitless network of pathways designed to engage every congregation and every believer in the Great Commission. Through the Cooperative Program and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering®, Southern Baptist churches support thousands of missionaries and missionary teams who are making disciples and planting churches around the world. In addition to partnering with several IMB missionaries, First Baptist gives financial support to the IMB through designated funds and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

In addition to prayer and financial support, FBCNB also organizes short-term trips to Wales to partner with local missionaries for the following:

Prayer Walking

We consider prayer to be our most important need on the field in this ministry, so prayer-walking is a highly strategic need for the areas where we minister.

Narrative Mapping

Narrative mapping is being able to understand a place and a people group better to assist in relating to them more effectively.

Missional Conversations Teams

Missional conversations are initial interactions with Welsh speakers where Christian faith and spirituality can be shared naturally and conversationally.

From the missionaries:
Many people ask us, "What do your day-to-day lives look like?" Rather than inviting people to church, we embrace the sent nature of God and His call to "go and make disciples." A simple rubric has helped to guide how we invest our time and resources: the Sixfold Incarnational Strategy. God has sent us to:

  • Cultivate rhythms of prayer
  • Share Jesus stories
  • Keep an open home
  • Serve our community
  • Hang out faithfully, and
  • Connect with others through our interests

Operation Christmas Child is one of many projects of international relief organization Samaritan's Purse, who partners with churches, organizations, and individuals to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Samaritan's Purse ships these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S. Upon receiving shoeboxes, children are invited back for a 12-lesson discipleship program for Bible stories, Scripture memorization, and sharing Christ with their friends and family.

Packing Parties NOV 1 & 2

Save the dates, November 1 & 2, 2024, to attend one of three come-and-go packing parties.
Friday, November 1st, 6-8PM
Saturday, November 2nd, 9-11AM and 1-3PM
Please bring a picture of you and your family to include in your shoebox.
Location: Please use the Children's Entrance and take the stairs immediately to your right as you enter. The party is upstairs this year due to renovations.

Remember, each box we pack gives that child the opportunity to hear the gospel in their own language. Thank you for partnering with us in this ministry. If you have any questions or would like to donate money, please contact Judy Wolter at 210-387-7370.

Collection week is November 18-25, but it's never too early to start! Here are some tips for making the best of seasonal savings year-round. Shoeboxes will be available in the Sanctuary foyer starting in October, or you can use or purchase you're own if you'd like. Here's how to pack, or you can choose to build a box online. Return your packed shoebox gifts, along with the $10 shipping per box, to the stage in Rushing Hall by Sunday, November 17th.

Please make checks payable to Samaritan's Purse.
You can also pay online.
