Discover First

Every Sunday, 11am - Noon

Discover First

Leader: Jared Walley |

First Baptist Church: 733 Cross Street, New Braunfels, TX US 78130

Our membership class, Discover First, has been revamped as an informative five-week process that will help you settle into FBCNB as your church home and family as quickly and thoroughly as possible. It’s a wonderful way to meet people and start building relationships while discovering our essential church doctrines, core values, culture, terms, and rhythm.

Whether you’re a new guest or long-time member, whether you’re seeking membership or just curious, you can jump in any week, in any order, with no commitment to membership.  This is intended to be both a membership and a general introduction class.

Discover First meets every Sunday (except holidays) from 11:00 AM to Noon in Rushing Hall. The topic will rotate each Sunday:

Week 1 – Introduction
Week 2 – Biblical Fidelity
Week 3 – Purposeful Evangelism
Week 4 – Christlike Living
Week 5 – Genuine Fellowship

To complete the membership process, you’ll be asked to attend all five sessions, in any order, and meet with Pastor Brad. This is not an interview. It’s just a get-to-know-you meeting and a chance for you to ask any further questions you may have. Again, you can attend the sessions in any order. And if you miss a week, no problem! You can pick it up when that topic rotates back around in five weeks.

CHILDCARE:
Children are welcome to attend the sessions with you.
If you’d prefer childcare, please indicate that on the registration link below.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Choir Rehearsal

Leader: James Passman |

The Sanctuary Choir rehearses every Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary and teams up with the praise band to lead worship on Sunday mornings. Rehearsal is more than notes and rhythms. It's an opportunity to worship and draw near to God together! Under the direction of Worship Pastor, James Passman, the choir prepares a wide variety of music to include hymn arrangements, choral classics, and adaptations of modern worship choruses. The Sanctuary Choir is a non-auditioned group open to all who want to come and sing.

Galatians - Who Has Bewitched You? Why and How?

As the gospel spread across the Roman world in the first decades after Jesus’ earthly ministry, conflict arose. Jews and Gentiles were believing the gospel, and a struggle over what it meant to be a Christian began. What does it mean to live under grace? Do you have to keep the Law to be a Christian? All of it or just part of it? Who is right? How will we know?

God used an apostle to write a letter to some churches that were struggling with this issue, a letter that still speaks today. Its message clearly defines the relationship between Law and grace, and how Christians live under grace, led by the Spirit, free from bondage.

Passover Seder

Passover Seder

The Last Supper is one of the most poignant and beautiful moments of Jesus the Messiah’s ministry. On His last night on earth, Jesus gathered His disciples to celebrate Passover. Most believers are familiar with Passover, but few know the clear connection, the revelation of the Messiah, found in a Passover Seder celebration.

Life in Messiah International local partners and FBCNB church members Steve & Diane Williamson will guide us through this unique opportunity to experience the events surrounding Christ's institution of Communion. You'll learn some of the rich history and symbolism of Passover and how it foreshadowed the Messiah. This Passover Seder is also a great evangelistic opportunity to invite someone you know to come enjoy fellowship and food as we share how the Passover Lamb delivers us.

Register

In Hebrew, seder simply means “order.” A Passover Seder is an ordered ceremonial remembrance as commanded in Exodus 12:14. The clear, strong connection to Jesus the Messiah is exhibited in a “Messianic” Passover Seder.

The generally accepted date is 1313BC. In Exodus 12, the Jewish people receive the command for the first Passover. In verse 14, they are further commanded: "Now this day will be a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the LORD; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as a permanent ordinance." For the Jewish people, 2024 will be their 3,337th Passover remembrance! It is celebrated through a “Passover Seder.”

Not really. Nearly all believers recognize the significance of the Last Supper. What many fail to realize is that Jesus was crucified on Passover, and what we call the Last Supper was in fact a Passover celebration. Jesus instituted communion at that Passover celebration. Similar to the Passover deliverance remembrance, communion is in remembrance of the deliverance Jesus made for us. There is clear, strong connection between Passover and Jesus the Messiah.

Chosen | A Study on the Book of Ephesians

For he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in love before him (Ephesians 1:4).

As believers in Christ, our identity has been radically changed. We are adopted as sons and daughters into the family of God. What does it look like to live out our identity in Christ?

Each week contains five days of study material, including daily study questions, a weekly memory verse, and weekly reflection questions. This 7-week study will equip you to:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the gospel and God’s unmerited favor towards His people
  • Put away worldly living and instead live by the Spirit
  • Learn the importance of striving for unity within the Church

Special resources within study:

  • Paul’s Relationship with the Ephesians Timeline
  • What is the Gospel?
  • Key themes: Unity, Identity in Christ, Christian Living, God’s Sovereignty, Prayer, Local Church

Choir Rehearsal

Every Wednesday, 7pm - 8:30pm

A love for the Lord and a love for music are the only two requirements.

Discover First

Family VBS 2024

JUNE 10-13, 2024 | 6:00-8:00 PM

Family VBS 2024

Leader: Doug Dunnavant |

Let’s VBS Together!

At FBCNB, we support family ministry by strategically coaching and supporting families as together we share the gospel, grow in biblical training, and strengthen discipleship from the inside out. We want to enable parents to literally come alongside their children with the truth of God, His Word, the sacrifice of His Son Jesus, and to support a lifelong effort to grow in the knowledge and understanding of the Lord together as a family.

The Great Jungle Journey

An Epic Cruise from Genesis to Revelation

Every day, our kids are bombarded with questions: Did God really create everything? Why do bad things happen? Was Noah’s ark real? Why do I need to be saved? Can I trust the Bible? At The Great Jungle Journey, your kids will explore the biblical answers to these questions as they set off on an epic adventure from Genesis to Revelation. Amid sloths, butterflies, river dolphins, and dart frogs, your children will sail along on a fun jungle cruise, stopping at seven ports of call. These ports are the 7 C’s of History: Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, and Consummation. Kids will discover how these events shape our world, and they will learn to reconnect the Bible to their everyday life.

Prepare to swing into fun as we head out on The Great Jungle Journey!

Family VBS 2023

Monday, June 10th - Thursday, June 13th
6:00-8:00 PM (Optional free dinner in the Gym from 5:00-5:40)
Ages 2yrs-6th grade
Nursery is available for babies through two years of age for those families attending with the other siblings. Parents are also welcome to have their babies stay with their families throughout the evening if desired.
Students grades 7th-12th are encouraged to volunteer as support leaders.

What will a night at Family VBS look like?

From the time your family checks in, the parents or guardians will participate with their children through the evening as together we all grow to understand that we are Keepers of the Kingdom! Families will gather at 6:00 PM in the Sanctuary for opening pledges, songs, verses, and videos. Your family will move together through four rotations:

  • Bible Study
  • Craft Time
  • Games
  • Music & Snack

We invite you and your family to join us and other families as together we grab ahold of God’s Word and learn to live daily by the truth, working toward the goal of shining the light of Jesus to those we encounter in the world.

It's an opportunity to worship and draw near to God together! Under the direction of Worship Pastor, James Passman, the choir prepares a wide variety of music to include hymn arrangements, choral classics, and adaptations of modern worship choruses. The Sanctuary Choir is a non-auditioned group open to all who want to come and sing.

A love for the Lord and a love for music are the only two requirements.

Discover First

A love for the Lord and a love for music are the only two requirements.
